Wands, Wizards, and Magical beasts are all present in the newest installment in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!
The tale begins with young wizard, Newt Scamander, coming off a boat from across the Atlantic to New York City, after being all across the world studying all sorts of magical creatures. On his way to his destination, he sees a protest to inform the people of witches’ effects on the population, saying how they are causing some of the strange occurrences that had been happening recently. When one of his smaller creatures escapes, he runs into – and exposes the magical community – to a Mr. Kowalski, a non-magical man trying his best to become a baker. Kowalski runs out of fear of Newt, and, unbeknownst to either of them, he takes Newt’s case instead of his own. He later opens it and unleashes all of creatures from Newt’s case into New York. It is then up to Newt and Kowalski to find and return all of the creatures to Newts case.
It goes from a fun movie about catching all sorts of different magical creatures, and very quickly turns into a mystery about powerful dark forces terrorizing New York City. Just as Newt is entering New York City for the first time, a strange man, who later turns out to be someone working for the ministry of magic in America. It was a subtle twist on the movie that I wasn’t expecting, and turned out to make the film more enjoyable than it would have been had it only been about Newt and Kowalski catching creatures. Sure, that would have made for a fun movie, but would not have made me begging for a sequel like this one did.
REVIEW: 8 new scam commander(s) out of 10.
It has many unforgettable characters, such as a quirky wizard, and woman that can read minds, and even a giant hippopotamus with a unicorn horn. It successfully sets the tone of the new movies in the series (yes, there will be more, I’m just as hyped as you are,) extremely well, which is getting me and my friends more and more excited about seeing the soming editions in the Harry Potter franchise. It’s a marvelous film that is a great addition into the Harry Potter franchise. I feel there may only be one word that can truly convey how incredible it was and that is this: Fantastic.
