FHS Food Drive + 10 Great Donation Ideas

The Franklin High school student senate is hosting a food drive which started October 19th and is going until November 3rd. They are looking for donations of nonperishable foods to be put in collection boxes and later to be donated to a local food pantry.  Make a donation to help your class win a prize (which will be announced at a later time) for a few lucky donors. Pay attention to the morning announcements and watch the Saber Roar in order to get further information. Make donations before school at the station set up in the main commons.

 

The Second Harvest Food Bank says the 10 most needed items for food pantry are

  • Meals in a can (soup, stew, chili)
  • Tuna or canned chicken
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned foods with pop-top lids
  • Canned fruit in its own juice or water
  • Low-sodium canned vegetables
  • Olive or canola oil
  • Spices
  • Low-sugar whole grain cereals
  • Healthy snacks (granola bars, nuts, dried fruit)
