FHS MARCHING BAND:

Congratulations to the FHS Marching Band, who made school history this past weekend!  The group competed in their first-ever marching invitational at Cudahy High School on Saturday night, and they took second place in class AAA. The band scored a 70.75, which is more than 15 points higher than their non-competitive score from last year.  This Saturday, the band will compete at the State Championships at UW-Whitewater.  Congratulations!!!

STUDENT COMPETES IN CALIFORNIA:

FHS Student “Noah Bachofen” competed in the National Yo-Yo Competition in Chico, CA and place 8th out of about 20ty.  (He had to qualify to get in.)  Well done, Noah!!!

 ***Athletes/Activity Students of the Week***

1-3) Alec Jakubowski, Chad Walton and Nick Plath– Football:

Alec had two interceptions, did a great job snapping on punts and had 8 tackles last Friday against Indian Trail. Chad had a couple of touchdowns and did a great job returning punts and kickoffs in this same game and Nick had 10 catches to round out the night.  Great job!  Good luck against Park tonight!

4-5) Maddy Gierach and Jackie Krueger– Cross Country:

Varsity runner Maddy Gierach ran a personal best again, she seems to be doing this weekly!  JWell done!  V runner Jackie Krueger improved by 2 minutes from her last 2.5mile race!  She also passed 54 competitors in her last race….Great Job Jackie!

Team/Club Updates:

Girls’ Volleyball:

*

The Franklin Girls’ Volleyball program had a stellar conference season.  All levels- freshman, JV and Varsity clinched the conference crown this past week.  In the history of the Franklin Varsity Girls’ Volleyball program, the only other time they clinched the conference title was in 1973!  Congratulations to all the girls on a fantastic season.  Good luck in post-season play!  The girls host Racine Park on Thursday, October 24th at 7pm for the first Regional game.  GO SABERS!

Girls’ Tennis:

Kassie Murawski concluded her season Thursday by being taken out in the State tournament by  a girl from Oshkosh West.  She finished her season at 18-9.  It was an encouraging end to a great season despite the loss.  However, the SEC Champion plans on going deeper in the tournament next year.   Congratulations, Kassie!

Football:

GOOD LUCK against Racine Park tonight at home!  Congratulations on being named the “Friday Football Frenzy Team of the Week”!  Below is the link to the clip from TMJ4 about the team of the week!  Congratulations!

Girls’ Cross Country:

*

The Lady Sabers JV Girls’ Team Dominated again! The girls finished in second place overall! A Few girls have now improved by 3-4 minutes over the 2.5 mile race distance. Jackie Krueger had the best race, her race plan was to negative split (run faster the second half) and she did a fantastic job doing that. Demi and Lexi did a great job of racing out front for the Sabers and look to lead the JV team to a win for the third time at the SEC meet on Saturday.

The Varsity girls were partially resting, finishing 4th without the team’s #1,2,3 racing all out…. good sign for Saturday! The girls would have WON if everyone was racing but the girls needed a break to be ready for the Southeast Conference meet on Saturday. They hope to 3-peat. The freshmen led the Varsity squad this week, they were out a bit too hard in the top 10 with some of the best runners in the state. Both slowed significantly and were passed a lot, a good learning experience that the team has to find a happy medium in the first 800! Maddy worked on starting out a bit more relaxed and ran a great Personal Best. Monica had the best race, getting out hard and she was passed by a bunch but passed them all back plus 1… not too many people in the front to pass so the girls will take 1! Nice job ladies!

Lots of Personal Records including Megan K, Maddy G, Lexi H, Demi Y, Quinn B, Jessica H, Jackie K, Nancy V, Nicole M, Ashley A, Hattie H, Hannah O, Abby V, Dara K

Boys’ Cross Country:

Good luck at Conference! : )

Girls’ Swim & Dive:

The Franklin Girls’ Swim and Dive Team had a rough start to the dual meet against Indian Trail Tuesday night. Fortunately, spirits were risen after seeing the dive team of Katrina Voge, Lindsey Frisch, and Elizabeth Konkel take 1st, 3rd, and 4th, throwing Franklin back into the meet. Leading off with a new spirit Bryanna Fredrickson, Brittney Norris, and Loren Gossett took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the JV 100 Fly. As the girls swam better and better, excitement peaked when Jourdie Lepkowski got a PR and won the 500 free. This helped lead the way to Bryanna Fredrickson winning and receiving a personal record in the 100 Back, as well as, Emily Simmons achieving a personal record while taking 3rd in the 100 Breast. The 400 free relay of Jessie Howard, Celeste Keith, Amanda Phil, and Gretchen Klein laid the final blow when finishing 3rd after the relay of Anne Gundrum, Sara Kraus, Elizabeth Herrick, and Claire Ciszewski. Final Scores JV: 129-49 V: 94-91. Both JV and Varsity are undefeated in the conference with only one dual meet left!

Congratulations to the swimmers and divers that competed at the Park JV Invitational over the weekend. The girls finished third overall. Makayla Grimm started the team off with a fifth place finish in diving. Brittany Norris, Lauren Zwitter, Cameron Brockman, Bryana Fredrickson, and Maddie Koetting dominated in the water during the first half of the meet. Katie Conti, Natasha Ignatowski, Grace Fredrickson, Jessie Maas, and Mia Woloschek also had great swims.

Boys’ Soccer:

The Boys’ Soccer Team ended their run in Regional play on Tuesday against Kenosha Bradford.  The boys fought hard, but ended up losing 3-1.  Great season, boys.  Good luck seniors.
